Muddy Waters
- born
McKinley Morganfield in 1915, went on to "urbanise" the delta blues in the
40s before influencing just about everybody in the world
of modern music until his death in 1983.
In particular, Muddy's band, combined with the songs of
Willie Dixon set the world on fire in the 60s with "Hoochie Coochie Man", "I Got my Mojo
Working", and a shedload of others
I had the good fortune to see him live in the 70s at the Hammersmith Odeon,
where the band looked & sounded as if they'd just been "beamed in" from a
sleazy Memphis bar. Fantastic!

The top UK jazz alto saxist
in the early '60s, Graham Bond then bought a hammond organ and teamed up
with Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Dick Heckstall-Smith to become a mega
band, who dominated the 60s Blues circuit for 2 years that seemed like a
lifetime.
Bruce & Baker later went on to form Cream with Eric Clapton.

Four
Coventry kids who topped the charts in 1963 with "You've got your
Troubles", are still touring today, and recently released a new album
"Some Bridges", which shows that they can do a lot more than
simply relive their past successes. A class act, excellent musicians, old
friends, and
their live show is well worth seeing.
At our recent gig at the
NEC we followed the Viva Aerial Dance company, who produce stunning aerial
performances, demonstrating that you can make a hell of an impact with a 5
minute show.
To see what we mean look at the videos or photos on their website >>
Two of the girls, Jane and choreographer Sandy, then joined us to provide
backing (and fronting) vocals, showing that there is no end to their talent.

So
Jane, of Viva above, used to be in a band, the Sundown Sinners, and here is
a link to their beautifully simple website with music and pictures.
I bet that this group were fantastic live, and it's a shame that there are
no live recordings.
That would be one good reason for them to re-form.
Oh well, you can't have everything
Laura
Nyro 1947-1997, quite simply the greatest singer/songwriter ever and
in a complete category of her own.
If you have any "soul" at all her voice will go right down inside and shake
your foundations.
I was lucky enough to see her twice in the '70s playing solo at the Royal
Festival Hall, where her vocals, piano & songs combined to make something
truly unique & magical. Listening to her now still brings tears to my eyes - even on
happy songs. Buy an album, I promise you won't regret it (well I hope not). See the Wikipedia

The best promotion of these instruments is the fact that all of the guitars

Well ... if he can't push this site here - where can he?
His apologies for the fact that he's too lazy to completely rewrite & update
